The John Muir Award on the Long Mynd

Full time volunteer Kate has set up a John Muir Award for some of the other volunteers at Carding Mill Valley. The award is gained if participants complete a number of activities which enable them to connect with a wild place, by exploring it, conserving it and then sharing their experiences.

A talk by the Shropshire Mammal Group chairman, Stuart Edmunds.
The first day of our John Muir Award began with presentations from numerous experts about the Long Mynd and its inhabitants. Then we headed outdoors, to the reservoir, to undertake sensory activities. Our group have decided on a variety of activities for the rest of the programme including; learning about sheep management, felting wool and invertebrate surveys.

Numerous organisations offer the John Muir Award and activities can be tailored to participants, to find out more visit: www.jmt.org
