Gorse Burning on the Long Mynd

Controlled winter burning is taking place on the Long Mynd. It is done by graziers and National Trust volunteers and rangers.

We burn Gorse to make it easier for commoners to gather livestock and to protect the nationally important habitat, dry acid grassland. It also creates a varied vegetation structure which increases biodiversity.
