The dragonfly course was also very successful, run by Sue McLamb. The mill ponds are a fantastic habitat for dragonflies, so why not have a look yourself?

Dragonfly in Batch Valley
A female Golden ringed dragonfly laying eggs in the Batch Valley, there are also a female and male golden ringed in Carding Mill Valley.
Dragons, damsels and butterflies
The Long Mynd is full of life this summer, and while walking up Carding Mill Valley or on the top you might spot some dragons and damsels. The Long Mynd is dotted with pools so you are quite likely to see numerous species flying around, you may also see butterflies and moths popping out of the long grass. Below are some photographs FTV Kate has taken whilst on the hill.
A Keeled Skimmer - quite scarce in the county but have a good population on the hill
Large Red damselfly
Meadow Brown butterfly
