Sheep Count
On Wednesday our ecologist Andy Perry, accompanied by the Rangers and a group of volunteers carried out another sheep count across the property. This involves splitting into small groups, each with a designated route to walk, and marking on a map the number of sheep in each area. This is to help maintain a suitable level of grazing on the hill. Andy joined Dave the ranger in the Landrover and counted the sheep along the plateau. The weather was clear and sunny, which produced some lovely photo opportunities; some sheep even joined one of our Placement Rangers for lunch! (see picture below)

Carding Mill DIY
The yard gates for our workspace on offices began to fall into disrepair so rangers and volunteers set about making and installing new panels.
We finally have it all finished, special thanks to our volunteer Reg who did all the complicated building/joinery bits.

Attingham Ragwort
Tuesday saw a huge gathering of Shropshire rangers, wardens and volunteers. Over 20 joined forces at Attingham to wage war on the ragwort, making a huge impact. This follows the success of the mega bracken bash here at Carding Mill Valley.

No Through Road
In the past few years a surprising amount of cars have driven down the Burway track, often under the instructions of a satnav! Rangers have put up this sign in the hope that it won't happen again!
